If the compression-related content were generating a lot of noise and drowning out other, more interesting content, I might be sympathetic. But the list has been really quiet lately. The compression guys are part of what's keeping it alive. And they do at least *think *that their work is part of the path to AGI. I don't share their optimism ... but then, I've not yet produced AGI via *my* preferred approach either, so perhaps a little humility is in order. Maybe produce more of the content you would like to see on the list, instead of making it even more of a graveyard by booting people off? On that note ... I had hesitated to self-promote, but I may start posting some of my own project updates here.
