My view of the "controversy" over the applicability of AIT to model selection is that there are overwhelmingly powerful interests in obfuscating the most salient truths of the reality we share with them. This is a "bug" in civilization that is periodically removed by "The Great Leveler <https://youtu.be/pobG397KwDw>" -- but only after tremendous damage has been done to the gene pool.
