There is a quite strong AGI meetup group in Tokyo which has regular
seminars, at which I've spoken a couple times....   E.g. we have Hiroshi
Yamakawa and his Whole Brain Architecture initiative,

and then Araya with their artificial consciousness work, leveraging the
legend Shun'ichi Amari (inventor of information geometry) as an advisor...
So some pretty serious stuff, but this mis-named conference has nothing to
do w these actual Japanese AGI guys...
