I feel I owe Wheatley a response but I don't really have much to say. I want AGI as much as anyone. I would love to be involved with an effort to make it happen. There just isn't anything I can do on my own. I feel that Wheatly is indulging in a delusion that he really is doing AGI by working on text compression because there isn't much of a barrier to working on text compression, just a working C compiler and a collection of texts to work on. So he works on that even though he has not successfully argued that it is a viable proxy for AGI.
The Hour is very late at this point. =((( I am going to go on hiatus from posting until at least late next year. I hope that you will still be alive and in good health by then and willing to talk seriously about doing AGI and won't be satisfied with just making yourself feel like you are doing great work and actually want to get things done. If you survive until next year, food is going to be scarce and difficult to obtain in the 2024 timeframe.
