Understanding the understanding survey summary :) is making my tummy grumble
A short (technical) briefing: The only thing going on in a universe is physics rules/ patterns. Us machines are trying to stay alive as long as possible (pattern too), so this is the evaluation / score that shows how intelligent you are. The really is no **other **point or purpose you should get to live, or enjoy breeding or eating or staying. It's hard for us to measure lifespans so we instead measure prediction scores of a wide diverse range of tasks such as predicting answers to many types of cancer questions, clothing questions, computer questions, and image completions, etc. It's also still hard to measure it by looking at predicted answers, so Perplexity and Hutter Prize's Compression evaluations allow an easy score that says exactly how good it is. Of course we have to look at actual predictions too, and eventually lifespans. My last words on "understanding": For AGI, it has to use both text and image etc, and have a diverse data intake for each too, and use related words, BPE, recency boosting, goals, etc, and use a body for maximum ability. All these things help it be more understanding, there is no secret single part that IS understanding. DALL-E is great, it is kinda not so bright, and it certainly doesn't have agency past the filling in a dream, - that is more important a topic. Agency is having motors, and evolving its goals, instead of staying stagnant like DALL-E. All it needs is data, it is the other types of learning that allow it to improve on that simply "more", such as having a body. You need to realize all the things you should title, name, or talk about are "pattern processes". Even agency. Even what Life, our goal is.
