https://youtu.be/HXM3BUXsY4g I had asked Nick Szabo several years ago about using lossless compression as proof of work but he discouraged the idea saying a fundamental feature of the proof of work, at least as he originally conceived it in the bit-gold white papers pre-Satoshi -- is that it is wasteful.
