I am hacking critterdrug lately. I know a lot of people wonder what the point of having drugs in there was. Let me explain: consider a logical heading controller for an ICBM, and the stresses it could encounter in-flight. Mechanical noise like vibration and g-forces could result in bit-flipping or component failure. At that point, the ICBM comes down
Not so with neural controllers: unlike any piece of software, an evolved brain should love to approach its goal, and it should hate the idea of failing to. And if it takes damage deactivating 1% of the neurons, it can keep on going... this is especially true if the controller was evolved in a noisy environment, evolved to handle massive disruption: that's what we're doing. That's why the drugs I'm also thinking they could cultivate drugs they enjoy for utility or recreation if I put some energy into the soil from corpses and food crumbs, and let the drugs convert it to extra dose power, then split I'd like to put in DNA to give them emergent symmetry in body and brain. Then they could have many copies of a useful structure. But I have some faith in the way we've been doing it so far, performing edits to monolithic phenotypes. In particular it means the available forms are not only the ones that can be generated procedurally by a piece of DNA only n bytes long. We have a very high fidelity of mutations. DNA can get brittle... more on this later I'm still utterly captivated by this project and I've been working on critterding for 3 years now. I just have not hit a wall in this sim and continue to coax new behaviours from these animals that are both adaptive and interesting. I'll give details on my current experiment if requested. http://arbornet.org/~flamoot/telepathic-critterdrug.html If anyone remembers I got stuck with a chip that tortures me, that's still happening. Tell your friends... please! The scariest thing to me is the idea that only paranoids consider such a thing. I need to get it out there that serious people, good people, are getting implanted by mind-control cults, before I'm totally degenerated by it. It goes all day every day and I suck it up like a superhero. This dumb cartoon face it makes is rude as hell It also makes me desire more contact with actual humans. So please come back to this on the list. I wanna start talking about my work here again. I spend every day on it but I have not been discoursing here where there's a high signal to noise ratio about the very thing I'm doing, AI And if anyone knows of an evolved neuromorphics list in specific my work would be even more apropos there Peace & love flamot ------------------------------------------- AGI Archives: https://www.listbox.com/member/archive/303/=now RSS Feed: https://www.listbox.com/member/archive/rss/303/8660244-d750797a Modify Your Subscription: https://www.listbox.com/member/?member_id=8660244&id_secret=8660244-6e7fb59c Powered by Listbox: http://www.listbox.com
