Well, you can feed DeSTIN input from a webcam and it forms internal states based on what it sees...
However, the usefulness of its internal states has so far only been tested on smaller-scale applications like character recognition... A similar (but proprietary) system, built by Itamar's company, has been used for various commercial & gov't object recognition applications...
