AT, What is missing from the pair "logic" and "probability" is "control"... IE, there needs to be some basic planning/RL/autoprogramming subsystem which learns how to get things done in real time, or at least, as quickly as possible.
I think a lot more can & will be achieved with fixed inference methods operating on more complex/dynamic probabilistic logics, but ultimately, human-level AGI will most likely need to learn efficient inference procedures for itself. A key aspect of this problem is finding a good way to *represent* different possible inference schemes. Simply allowing programs to operate on the KB and propose possible inferences would be terrible... inefficient from the start. (I think we can't just iterate arbitrary code over the whole KB to look for good inferences...)
