You should probably be aware that nobody in this group (except possibly Ben Goertzel) is doing any serious work in AGI. Everyone has ideas, but nobody is doing experiments or publishing results to back up their ideas. So a lot of the discussion is of the form "I'm right and you're wrong". There is a Journal of Artificial General Intelligence, edited by Pei Wang, who was once on this list but left years ago. None of the other authors are here either. Nor are people like Minsky, Kurzweil, Vinge, Yudkowsky, Hutter, Legg, or Schmidhuber. Too bad. But I can see why. Keep in mind that we pay people US $70 trillion worldwide each year to do work that machines aren't smart enough to do. You should expect that a complete solution to this problem will require years or decades of global effort, as the easy parts of the problem have already been solved. IMHO if you want to make progress, then pick some tiny piece of the problem and work on that. -- Matt Mahoney, [email protected] ------------------------------------------- AGI Archives: https://www.listbox.com/member/archive/303/=now RSS Feed: https://www.listbox.com/member/archive/rss/303/21088071-c97d2393 Modify Your Subscription: https://www.listbox.com/member/?member_id=21088071&id_secret=21088071-2484a968 Powered by Listbox: http://www.listbox.com
