I don't know, there are many different technologies that are starting to
rapidly come together now and be internetworked. From facial recognition to
location tracking technologies to remote chemical detection devices, RFID's,
remote imaging... It's moving very fast at this point.

And the smart mobile devices are densely packed with various technologies while
being connected to the internet both stationary and mobile. Also, mobile
devices seem to sleep less than the PC's. And we are closer to them in various
ways.

These technologies are increasingly outstepping the pace of civilization. I
find it difficult to see that far into the future now compared to years ago.

At some point we will start losing control of it and it will take on a life of
its own, AGI or no AGI. Siri will make more and more choices for you as time
goes on, where to eat, what to buy, etc.. Google Now will lead you to other
places perhaps, a different restaurant or whatever, read this other novel, vote
for that other person... brainwash you another way heh.. talk to you in your
sleep :) Tell your neighbor where you are, control how many people are going
different places,... think about it.
