"God does not play dice with the universe," said Albert Einstein, but Singularitarians love to put the whole ball of wax at risk.
"Gott spielt nicht Wuerfel" is one formulation of the famous quote from Einstein, and Mentifex (how do I dare put both those names on one line?) has made relatively (ouch!) splendid use of the quote by using it for three triple purposes in the German "DeBoot" bootstrap sequence of the http://www.scn.org/~mentifex/DeKi.txt source code which is Wotan Supercomputer Strong AI in German. The first purpose was to let the KbTraversal mind-module traverse the knowledge base (KB) and bring to life the philosophically important topic of God ("Gott" in German) in a Strong AI that purports to reduplicate God's work in creating conscious, mindful entities. To do so is recursive, because God created Man in His own image, and now Man creates the AI Wotan in the image of Man, which is the image of God. (Who knows what Wotan himself will create?) The second purpose was to introduce into the IdeaPlex a thought containing an instance of German negation with the adverb "NICHT" (not): GOTT SPIELT NICHT WUERFEL = God plays not dice. The third, and actually most important purpose, was to quote some glorious figure in German history like Beethoven or Nietzsche or Einstein and let the cognoscenti enjoy the sly allusion. We are met now on the darkling plain of late 2012, when the Technological Singularity is scheduled to appear within the next month of December 2012. We are at a point where we may say, "Who will get there first?" The Russians were first in space and first to the Dark Side of the Moon (the parsecs, silly! not the music) and the Germans were first to jet aircraft and ballistic missiles. Now the Russians come each night and examine the Dushka AI source code, while the Germans have had the full-fledged Wotan Strong AI source code for only two weeks since initial upload on Fri.16.NOV.2012.
