Alan, what year you've designed that $2000 computer, it sounds absurd
for last year or two. 8 GB is nothing, 16 GB is ridiculous for $2000 too
(except if it's an Apple Notebook, of course...),
It was built about 2.5 years ago, the ram cost about $270.
But the timings are 7-7-7-20 at 1333mhz. Can you beat that? =P
if I was to built a
$2000 machine, it would be 3 or 4 PCs with ~ core i5 2500 - core i5 3470
or slightly cheaper ones, and 32 GB, or at least two with very powerful
GPUs.
????
What kind of cluster operating system would you run? Could you use it as
some kind of NUMA desktop or would you have to code special MPI
applications for it?
