The quality and potential of the OpenCog AGI design is quite independent

The compelling demonstrations I am working toward are:

1) A video game agent that holds intelligent, interesting, creative
English conversations about what it's doing and seeing in the video game
world

2) A mobile robot that holds intelligent, interesting, creative English
conversations about what it's doing and seeing in its robot lab

The fact that I don't care about boiling these down to quantitative
metrics, doesn't eliminate their potential compellingness as demonstrations.

Yes, demonstrations are critically important. Without a demonstration, I can only look at your diagrams and say "what an ungodly mess" or look at your source code and say "that doesn't look like it would do anything helpful."

But with a demonstration, I can actually do a litmus test on it and see what color I get.

Ideally, I'd co-op with it in my minecraft world and see whether it demonstrates the capacity for imagination (perception).

I have a server running on my desktop machine ( 66.92.168.49 ).
