I don't think anyone here is being dualist here unless speculation about say a 
quantum soul falls into the category of non-physical...

An entity that would get uploaded, what would you call that? Some sort of 
posthuman image? People get all fidgety when they hear the term "soul" :)

AGI is more than just copying people. It'll come in many forms of 
super-intelligence. It'll bring many forms of consciousness that which we may 
understand less of than our own. You can't just handwave it away by willfully 
pretending it doesn't exist... 

P-consciousness might be an amplifier of intelligence during evolution as it 
exists in multi-agent intelligences communications enhancing a societies 
communication complexity characteristics (see Yao). It's related to the 
coupling of communication and intelligence in species survival IMO.
