I wish the uploaders could be convinced that were true! =P Unfortunately, the evidence seems to indicate that all of those things are possible with conventional digital techniques. > • No reliable model for brain diseases. > It depends on what you require. > b. Negative side: 1. It is an admission of defeat regarding understanding intelligence. (I'm much more optimistic). 2. It will be EXTREMELY difficult technically. You would have to grow and maintain a super-human quantity of brain tissue so that it is stable, sane, and useful for several decades, or until it can solve the problem which you gave up on. Positive side: 1. It's fairly low risk, ie the path to solution almost certainly exists despite being long and circuitous. 2. Because of 1 it can probably attract funding, some of which can be syphoned off to real AGI projects. 3. It could contribute to the development of neural interfaces, which is one of my own personal critical-path technologies. > • Naturally, emotion, consciousness ....are expressed > FALSE. It could be conscious and have been raised by a mind uploader and end up dooming us all in favor of pixelated video game characters. -- IQ is a measure of how stupid you feel.
