I thought your language was a tad imprecise, but the "resolution" of your dilemma methinks lies exactly in the word "error", obviously this kind of representation is error-prone and always has been, the point is rather that it should be "useful". Matching dimensions to concepts is not exactly an option as, IMHO, concepts are infinite.
