I think the quest exists for embedding humanism within AGIs, for
transplanting the soul into a new machine, as more than energy, but as
consciousness. That was the premise of Apple's founders, the soul of a new
machine. Could we then argue that the advent of the PC in 1981 was the
start of a quest for transplanting HGI to AGI, for HIA?

I think I see the path to this, which will be as follows:

1. First, a new type of super duper microscope is needed, that is capable
of observing the microscopic processes going on in LIVING neurons. My
patent for this is about to issue. I put up a short web site about it at:

CoincidentFocus.Weebly.com

2. Then, armed with the microscope it will become possible to relate form
to function in neurons. There will probably be some gaps, but math can
probably fill in where microscopy comes up short, e.g. the sum of the
probabilities for all possible outcomes is 1.0

3. Once the relationship between form and function has been established,
it will become possible to scan out the connectomes from frozen brains.

4; Processors are still orders of magnitude short of being able to
simulate scanned brains in real time, but I see an architectural workaround
that should get us there, which is embodied in my article *The Itanium
Effect* which is floating around the Internet. I have also posted it here
in the past. This should give a couple of extra orders of magnitude in
performance over present designs.

Other problems will doubtless emerge, but the microscope and Itanium Effect
understanding are at minimum existence proofs that the presently seen
roadblocks can be blown away.

Right now, only people egos and our screwed up economy stand in the way of
launching a major project to eventually transfers souls to machines.

Thoughts?

Steve
