I hate uploaders.
I identify motivated cognition as the main force behind
the upload enthusiasm. Neuroscientists want their knowledge
to be relevant. Futurists want a future that is like the present -
so they can understand it. Immortalists want somewhere for their
frozen brains to go.
It's hard to deny that there's considerable enthusiasm for the
idea. Enthusiasm and funding are important and can influence
outcomes. However, in the case of uploads, a positive miracle
would be required to make uploads come first or be of much
economic significance.
