Novamente doesn't need to sleep....
In general, if a part of the system needs improvement, it can copy that part
of itself and keep one copy operational while experimenting on the other
copy ... no "downtime" is needed...
But wouldn't it be difficult to integrate the results of the
experimental copy back into the working copy which has since had new
experiences, memory formation and lessons at the end of the time
period for experimentation and/or optimization?
Also, an AGI might already be consuming all the CPU and RAM resources
available to it, leaving no space for an experimental copy. But the
concern above is the larger as it seems harder to solve.
