Weng's work is really neat stuff, but in terms of cognition what he's
doing is quite primitive.  However, he has progressed far in terms
of integrating perception, action and goal-oriented control ... without
any higher-level learning or understanding...

Thanks for that link, what an interesting-looking project! (I haven't gone
into it in depth yet but from the overview material it certainly seems to
qualify as AGI research).  I'm thinking of playing around with a project
of
my own instead of just reading, and something similar in spirit to Weng's
research would be fun.
