Jef, perhaps you have some writings that'd you'd be willing to share? I see this Palmer paper as potentially leading to some interesting forms of pattern mining among other things. He's really describing mathematical model of a lot of systems. I've never studied General Systems Theory so I'm not one to bring any authoritative weight to the table ... still though I'm diggin' it man!
