My 2 cents on this issue... I read the posts more or less daily because I want to be knowledgable in these areas, there are idea gems hidden here, and I want to see if anybody else is on the same path I'm on... :) Once in a while I post something.
Having cut my teeth on college football message boards, the kind of insults here are pretty small time, but nevertheless detract. The single best way to get rid of a flame poster is ignoring him. Period. The problem with AGI is that posters have very strong opinions in so much as their method is the one guaranteed to work, and anybody else's method won't work. For instance I'm convinced that Goertzel's method won't work but I admire it anyway. I don't think increased moderation is the key; it is more like finding a station on a radio -- if nobody listens the station will go out of business.
