Don't you think it might be more closely related to education and culture, rather than morphologic differences? Especially when reading the rest of the article - the part on how asians focus on background rather than subjects as westerners, or how they tend to analyze things relative to context rather than in absolute terms, to me reflects very much the education of such cultures (more environment and socially centered) compared to the education of westerners (more individual-centered).
