Rational culture is about to be surpassed in the next ten years, by creative culture *** As someone who's passionate about avant-garde, experimental creative writing and music improvisation ... and who considers his own AGI designs examples of creativity ... I find this a very odd way of looking at things... **** > > Creative culture is essential to solve the problems of AGI - AI/AGI are > getting nowhere precisely because rationality cannot solve the problems of - > and is the complete *antithesis* of - creativity. > *** Well, let me introduce you to my good friend Hegel ;-) Rationality = thesis Creativity = antithesis Productive scientific thought = synthesis I don't think there's any lack of creativity in the AGI world ... and I think it's pretty clear that rationality and creativity work together in all really good scientific work. Creativity is about coming up with new ideas. Rationality is about validating ideas, and deriving their natural consequences. They're complementary, not contradictory, within a healthy scientific thought process... -- Ben G ------------------------------------------- agi Archives: https://www.listbox.com/member/archive/303/=now RSS Feed: https://www.listbox.com/member/archive/rss/303/ Modify Your Subscription: https://www.listbox.com/member/?member_id=8660244&id_secret=123753653-47f84b Powered by Listbox: http://www.listbox.com
