It isn't with the Whiteboard but with the Dashboard. I've used Firebug
to time the different parts of the page rendering and the time is
spent in the "GET .../dashboard" request.

No, the time is spent in the first HTTP GET request. Subsequent HTTP
requests and JS execution are all fast. I just realized that my
original message wasn't clear: the 100% CPU load is on the server
side, not on the client side.

Yes, I'm using SQLite, but no-one else is using the db at the same
time (plus, if it was just waiting for the db lock, CPU load on the
server should not be 100%, should it?)
