We use it for the product backlog only to restrict the data view to the different teams and their backlog. But it works for whiteboard view as well. With the sprint content and the resulting whiteboard view we process a bit different. We create an own sprint for each team (e.g. team1_sprint11, team2_sprint11) to separate the data views. So sprint responsibility is announced directly by the sprint name.
