I was looking at 2016 for other reasons so here's a pass at it if ok? It
was the quietest year on record, with some months having absolutely no
official posts. I think the following is best candidate because it was an
entirely new concept that fit the spirit of the time (quiet), and seemed
at the time as a minor silly thing, but it ended up leaving a deep legacy
despite its simplicity:
