Yes, you would need at least basic knowledge of linux to set up a quake server.
You might also have to watch out with tbrn, especially if their bandwidth
alotment is based on "fair use" However, they are a good sollution if you don't
want to spend alot. However, if you want to go all out, I would recomend
getting a real server all of your own and paying for it to be hosted in a data
centre.
