you can adjust teamtalk to have lower qualities.
You can also forward people through the server taking loads off your bandwidth.

How much resources does skype take up? Like Brandon says, skype
makes it easier on dial-up users- so if we went with teamtalk, it'd
be leaving dial-up users out of the conversation which would be pretty cheesy.

I accidentally forwarded a message to Ken on this topic.
Appologies, Ken. lol. Wrong address. In that message I stated that
although skype might be good with dialup, it allows five people
maximum to a conference, and it takes up too much resource. TT has
an awesome feature which lets you have as many people as your
bandwidth allows. Basicallt the point is, if you had a quake server
with more than five people on it, you couldn't use skype unless you
only wanted to have five people be able to talk, leaving everyone
else out. And, andre's server is awesome, it's the perfect place to
go for a chill and a relaxation. I don't go on much but when I do
for long periods it's really fun.

Clement

hi all
i've gotta say, skype definitely makes it easier on dial-up users. we are
out here. it's good that quake is accessible to us. i've gotta point out the
fact that teamtalk does not work at all on dial-up particularly because
everyone sets their voice to the maximum. i can have skype running and only
experience about a second's lag. i realize the voice quality can probably be
put up higher with teamtalk but i'm sticking to skype. Brandon Hicks
