a very nice elementary lecture. I'm a bit beyond the scop of this explanation. it doesn't assuage my knowledge that you are in some way cheating. It happens too many times, with too many weapons, without ever tripping a targeting alarm. I am NOT a newbyplayer as you assume; your "tips," are old hat. Nor am I your "student." If you weren't such a JERK you'd see what a jerk you are.

Hi Mark.

I'm most likely taking you out from long range.

Are you aware of the sniper rifle? When the game says that you were sniped,
this means that someone took you out with the sniper rifle. Is this
happening to you? I do this a lot.

When you're using the sniper rifle, use impulse 26 to turn on the audio
crosshair. With the audio crosshair on, and the sniper rifle selected, you
can aim and shoot at people that are too far away to generate one of those
enemy detector tones. Basically, the sniper rifle has unlimited range. The
drawback is that you must have a direct line of sight. You can't shoot
through walls. Also, while the sniper rifle will usually kill people with
one hit, it shoots slowly, so its not a good weapon to use when people are
shooting at you from close range. Of course, people will hear you sniping at
them, so be sure to turn on the silencer with impulse 58. I have both of
those on hotkeys.

One of the things I do on big open maps like 4-level is to stand against a
wall with it to my back, facing across the map. I'll strafe left and right,
waiting for the audio crosshair to ping. I'll never even hear the enemy
targeting tone for the person that I'm about to kill. They're probably on
the other side of the map. Whenever I hear that ping, though, I shoot.
Sometimes, they've moved before I can shoot. Most of the time, though,
they're dead, and they never saw it coming. This is kinda how sniping works
in real life.

Another long range attack is to be fighting someone, face them, jump with
the force, which jumps behind them and on the other side of the map. Then,
I'll spin around 180 degrees, select the nail gun, and strafe back and
forth. The nail gun won't target at long distances like the sniper rifle
will, but that isn't important. I know roughly where they are, and I'll just
spray the area with nails. Plus, I'll be shooting at their back.

I have lots of keys, and they aren't hard to remember. R for sniper rifle, b
for blaster, [ and ] to work the hook, n to fire the stun gun, etc. I just
map them to things that make sense. I also have keys to perform 90 and 180
degree turns, look up/down, and other mods that aren't in the standard
hotkeys. I have also moved the left/right/forward/back keys to the main
keyboard on i j k and l. It is easier to press keys when you have them all
on the main keyboard. Playing the game is like typing then. If you use the
default keymap, then you're constantly having to move your hands back and
forth, or else hunt around with your left hand. You should relocate your
keys to things that make sense to you. For example, holding down alt and
pressing left and right arrows is silly to me. I made u and o strafe, so
that I can do that with a single key press.

Bryan

This is my final word on the subject. Whether you can guess who I am or not
is irrelevant; there are more people than I who suspect you, I'm just one,
and I can't vouch for my skill level or how it rates against yours; I try
not to play you when you come on, avoidance being the better policy.

I have picked a cleared area and stood in the middle, turning slowly,
looking up and down. You will kill me repeatedly without any sign from my
detector that you're within striking range. You kill me without notice,
even when I should have a clear 180 degree (by dint of turning) of my
surroundings and a certain amount (with looking up or down) of overhead
view. How do you remain invisible to targeting systems if not by cheating? You claim to have this amazing array of keystrokes that you can choose from, which is simply unmanageable and unwieldy. Am I supposed to believe you sit
there and go, "Gee, of the 30+ options I have, I've got enough time to sit
back and choose this one." I don't buy it. And to top it all off, you have
the obnoxious, self-centered, egotistical, entitled attitude of a cheating
little boy. If you've so much to offer the game, let's see your credentials
as a developer, not just many people you can kill and how good you are. I
wouldn't let you teach me even if you DID have something to offer, because
you attitude makes me want to vomit. For anyone in the game to even give
you the time of day and create a list just so you could pretend you're some
sort of Jedi is just utterly ludicrous.

Ah ha! I suppose I can guess who you are in the game.

Well, good. Here we are on the Agrip list, with the developers of the
game,
the developers of the mods, and anyone with any skill at Audio Quake. If
anyone exists who might understand how such supposed cheating takes place,
then they're here.

So, I'd like to know on what basis you think that I cheat. Perhaps you
should describe your observations, so that, if there is some super secret
hack/hole in the game, the developers can fix it. However, if you're only
basis for claiming that I cheat is that I play so much better than you and
the other newbies, then we can safely conclude that you're just a whiny
crybaby that can't believe that anyone who has played for two years longer
than him might be a whole lot better.

I'd be happy to just let you go on crying and dying, but I want to make
sure
that this is cleared up for the other players. If they get their skills
together, then they can play just as good as me. There is absolutely no
cheating in Audio Quake.

I'm going to name some player names here. I don't think that it is against
list policy to talk about player names. I think that it is only wrong to
talk about who the player is in real life.

Onjman can beat me. He doesn't always beat me, and he couldn't beat me at
all for a long time, but he does now. Fragdoll can also do really well
against me. Farhan does fairly well, depending on the day. The reason that Onjman plays as well as me is that he has been playing just as long as me,
and plays pretty much every day.

Certain in-game people claim that I'm cheating, but they're at the bottom
of
the frag list. There will be 6 people in the game, and the complainer will be in last place. If I'm cheating, then so are the other 5 people that are beating them, huh? I suppose anyone that they can't beat is a cheater. lol

I
can't believe that people can actually reason like this. People used to
say
the same stuff about Derek.

Whatever, though. You can keep playing, or you can go home. I hope that
you'll get better, though, so you'll actually give me a challenge. And I'm
Master Luke Skywalker to you, little crybaby. hahaha Thanks for a good
laugh.

Master Jedi Bryan

Okay, I"m going to just say this, and everyone's going to hate me that's
fine. I think the idea of a list where Brian sets himself up as a Luke
Skywalker wanna be just makes me want to vomit. I for one DO believe he
cheats, but the utter obnoxiousness of this is just over the top.

Hey Robin, that's cool. We may have multiple ownership, so go ahead
and join the list and we'll see what the interest is like...

Have a great day and talk with you soon!...

Smiles,

Cara
