Hi there: I've gotten AQ to work under linux... I can tell you that
under Slackware, which is where I had the best luck, the installer ran
just fine, with just one glitch, the perl package that comes with
Slackware by default, doesn't jive with the LibConfig-tiny source that
the launcher depends on so what I had to do was uninstall perl, and
reinstall it from source, which is a lot easier then it sounds, just
take a while for the compile, but I'm assuming... (and you know what
that means...) that you're already familiar with compiling from source,
if not though, I'll be happy to help. After installing that, you'll
want the source for eflite, which is a speech server, as well as Flite,
I've got all this, so if you can do ftp I can make an account on my ftp
server so you can get all this stuff. Also remember that aq does
require X to be working, so you'll have to fire up X and from there
open an X-term window, and go into the ./zquake directory and launch
the start.pl script, from there, it's pretty much the same as winders...
Sorry for the long-winded message... feel free to bug me lots... and enjoy AQ!
