The "Rules of AI-GEOSTATS" clearly states:
"As requested by the subscribers", commercial announcements (software
release, new books, ...) are NOT supposed to be sent to the list. You should
use instead the NEWS online form where you also can announce a product, a
new web site or introduce a company. The announcements are put directly on
the web.
I really believe that no subscriber would think that this is not reasonable!
Now, it can be a bit tricky to evaluate things when one refers to a package as
a solution to a given problem. Of course when the one selling the software
does any sort of announcement listing its advantages, it is without any doubt
a "commercial announcement". I see no need for a debate on the subject!
