From: Jim de Jong [EMAIL PROTECTED]

Gday John and others.

Airnews is certainly alive and well, and I have no intention at present
of killing it off, and the financial support from the AIR for the
project is ongoing. It is true however to say that there has not been a
lot of volume through it for some time. Unfortunately, however, a lot of
spammers are very active, to a point where I have to manually go in and
authorise messages, rather than the more immediate response we were
getting 12 months ago. It was either that or be responsible for up to 3
Nigerian banking offers a day, not to mention an unlimited number of
offers to enhance your attractiveness.

Having said it has all been quiet, a number of things are still
happening in the background. The ASSMIRT 2004 Cairns conference site is
developing quite nicely. Those that have surfed http://www.ausinrad.com/
lately will also be aware that a number of the panels, state branches
(especially SA) etc are having a lot more input into resources they make
available on the web. The Victorian CT Users group have recently
started their site with me as well, and a number of others are
considering it.

In the meantime, we have developed protocols that ensure that panel
members details are updated weekly and similar information on branches
will appear in the next few weeks.

Since I have purchased a new Cannon scanner in the last month (that
spells a lot better than I do), A lot more detail that goes into
Spectrum has been appearing on the website. This includes such things
as pr=E9cis of Council minutes etc as they become available.

We are all indebted to a magnificent level of support from a variety of
staff from the secretariat, and especially Greg Brown who co-ordinates
much of the information forwarded to me. This includes typed copies of
such things as the new professional ethics and other documents as they
are approved by the various panels and council.

All in all, I am still as busy as always, just in different ways I
suppose :-) and Airnews is still there, just no-one has much to say.
Maybe now I have posted the new professional Conduct paper in the
document directory, we will get an almighty howl ... it is well worth a
read. Profcond.pdf in the http://www.ausinrad.com/documents/ directory
from memory.

Keep the faith...

Dear Jim,

Having not had a mailing from the list for what seems a considerable
time I=20
wondered if the contributors had finally succumbed or if some glitch was

between me and the pearls contributed from time to time. Thought I would
ask rather than send a test message to the potential annoyance=20
of many.
