Correct, "the new read side" is step 2,
now we're doing step 1 which will make the "write side" stable and a fully
supported module.
We have identified a number of important changes that need to be made to
the write side and plugin API before we can call it stable - this is the
current step we're making. One of the addressed questions is schema
evolution, tools and docs about it.

The query side will follow once we have Akka Streams (which are nearing 1.0
now)

Eventuate is a nice project, and as Martin describes in the blog post it
chooses a different trade off (AP) than Persistence (CP).
