I guess that according to the mail (which I cannot find on the sourceforge  
archive (yet)) with subject "speed of functorial compose" sent by Ralf it  
seems the actual problem has already been solved or rather clairified.
Nevertheless, I worked with gprof some time ago. But I am no expert.  
However, from the Aldor-compiler generated C code I read, I guess it is a  
complete nightmare to profile Aldor code.
At any rate, if you need help to setup or walk through this nightmare,  
just tell me ;)
