You got me. Saxon is one of those things that I ended up using
waiting for Xalan 1 to come out back in 1999, and I have not yet
switched over. The intention would be to switch over to Xalan ASAP.
Besides, I'm semi-exempt, havig not yet earned my 'Apache commit
karma' :-)

I'm in agreement. More of an investigation as to whether it would be
accepted here, and if that is the case, this is a very good thing.
Sam, you have done some excellent work and I definetly want to
continue down the path while maintaining your reputation (for better
or worse [BIG SMILEY]).
