Bernie, With all due to respect and as someone living in Houston, when I went looking for my Series 4 Spider, I looked for a non-Veloce, one without an air conditioner. Less weight, fewer things to go wrong. I've never regretted the decision. In all the time I've had her (10 years), the top has been up maybe 10 times for a total of a couple of hours to dodge the odd rain shower. In the winter, even at 25 degrees, top down, jacket and hat. The only caveat, it can't be raining. (Suggestion, when leaving the top down for extended periods of time, lay clean diapers on both sides of the plastic window, keeps it from getting scratched. Change yearly and use a boot to keep the sun off)
That being said, when I moved here, I was told, "In Houston, you can drive a convertible with the top down 11 months out of the year, in August it is just too hot". Regards, Lawrence K. The compressor on the Series 4 spider makes driving bearable, sometimes even pleasant. Oh I see your email address puts you near Indiana. Well, hope you can drive your spider in summer, we actually can drive ours year round here in Texas. Best Wishes, Bernie Bennett down to just 3 automatic Alfas, our 164 L has found a new home. --- On Sun, 8/23/09, Doskow, Jack Edward <[email protected]> wrote: > From: Doskow, Jack Edward <[email protected]> > Subject: [alfa] sorry, i can't help it > To: "[email protected]" <[email protected]> > Date: Sunday, August 23, 2009, 7:33 PM > but i have to ask : > why does a ALFA spider need an air conditioning compressor > ? > jak > -- > to be removed from alfa, see http://www.digest.net/bin/digest-subs.cgi > or email "unsubscribe alfa" to [email protected] -- to be removed from alfa, see http://www.digest.net/bin/digest-subs.cgi or email "unsubscribe alfa" to [email protected] -- to be removed from alfa, see http://www.digest.net/bin/digest-subs.cgi or email "unsubscribe alfa" to [email protected]
