1) find out where the mouse chewed through the wire from the gas gauge
sending unit; and 2) get a garage cat.
But seriously, have you tried the old standby method of smacking the
dashboard to wake the gas needle from its resting place. Works on my GTV6
after it has been sitting for a while.

Subject: [alfa] Two Tidbits
I've been getting my 77 spider ready for showing at tomorrow's Classics on
the James here in Richmond, Virginia. Two discoveries: 1) my gas gauge
is dead; and 2) a mouse made a home in my trunk.
Any advice on either, i.e., how to sort the first and how to prevent the
second?
Doug
