My Milano Gold (2.5) has been 'resting' for a couple of months while the weather got 'cool' enough to fix the blower motor switch [and clean out leaves from blower] - thats done - it was a bad switch - interesting task - I visit the chiropractor on Monday to straighten out my body.
Next job was to do oil change & general maintenance for emission inspection - this is where things got weird. Went to start engine to warm oil for change. Turned key, starter ran and ran -turning over engine but no start of sign of start. Kept running even when key removed. Stopped by disconnecting neg terminal on battery. Recharged battery, used remote starter, tried again - turned over OK but engine showed no interest in starting [voltage reading was about 12.7 during engine turnover]. Tried again and starter kept turning engine over - disconnected battery to stop. I have had starter rebuilt & replaced recently. Fuel is flowing - new filter , rotor & cap. At least two things worry me: why starter turns engine until battery disconnect, and why no spark. Anyone experienced similar issues after car been off road for a while? thanks for any suggestions as to next step Ralph Houston, TX -- to be removed from alfa, see http://www.digest.net/bin/digest-subs.cgi or email "unsubscribe alfa" to [email protected]
