Dunno about the no start. Check for fuel, spark and compression and make
sure they all arrive at the same time.
Starters that stick engaged my had bad solenoids, in my experience. Next
time it does that, take a long crow bar or something stiff that you can put on
the starter solenoid. Smack the other end of the crow bar with a hammer.
That normally knocks the solenoid off.
You said your starter was rebuilt, but maybe they did not put on a new
solenoid. The solenoid carries a lot of amperage. When the solenoid
disengages, it can spark slightly. After years of slight sparking, the
contact points can literally weld themselves together. Smacking with a hammer
can shock them enough to disengage.
There is another side of a solenoid problem. Namely the solenoid fails
to engage. That can be caused by the sparking raising so many pits and
valleys on the contact surfaces that they fair to make good contact. Again a
smart smack with a hammer tends to make the solenoid work.
In both these cases, the solenoid needs replaced.

My Milano Gold (2.5) has been 'resting' for a couple of months while the
weather got 'cool' enough to fix the blower motor switch [and clean out
leaves from blower] - thats done - it was a bad switch - interesting task -
I visit the chiropractor on Monday to straighten out my body.
Next job was to do oil change & general maintenance for emission inspection
- this is where things got weird.
Went to start engine to warm oil for change. Turned key, starter ran and
ran -turning over engine but no start of sign of start. Kept running even
when key removed. Stopped by disconnecting neg terminal on battery.
Recharged battery, used remote starter, tried again - turned over OK but
engine showed no interest in starting [voltage reading was about 12.7 during
engine turnover]. Tried again and starter kept turning engine over -
disconnected battery to stop.
I have had starter rebuilt & replaced recently. Fuel is flowing - new
filter , rotor & cap.
At least two things worry me: why starter turns engine until battery
disconnect, and why no spark.
Anyone experienced similar issues after car been off road for a while?
thanks for any suggestions as to next step
Ralph
