I just got home from the 25th annual Classics on the James. (Its put on by the Central Virginia British Car Club.) It was a beautiful day below the skyline of Richmond, with the James River and the old Kanawa canal (that George Washington invested in) along the north, and an occasional coal train slowly grumbling by on the viaduct to the south.
Over 120 cars, I'd say. Old stuff. Some really interesting like a German Taunus and a 2CV panel truck. Jaguars and MGs, and some English bikes dominated, but there also was a good showing of Italian iron: a Maser, several Ferraris, six Alfas, and seven Fiats/Abarths. A nice range of cars in past years' photos is at www.classicsonthejames.com On the way home -- a full 8 miles to me -- I backended a Honda and smushed the prow on my 77 spider. The crease is just forward of the hood, which lifts freely and solidy as always. The plasticized metal-looking piece (that mimics the top rim of an Alfa grille behind my perambulator bumper) is now broken. Where would I find that?!? No big deal. But big bummer. Any advice on sourcing, servicing, doing it myself, would be appreciated.
