140 mph is standard. The 85 mph speedos were an early 80's thing. Those tires are not too far off factory (either 165/80 or 185/70, IIRC), and wouldn't account for such a large error. Seems like your speedo needs to be calibrated.

To me that is pretty optimistic. What combination of factors would cause a speedo to be that far off? Are 140 mph speedos standard for this year? I might be mistaken but I'm pretty sure both the transmission and differential are original since the car hadn't run for 15 to 20 years. The tires are rather short at P175/70R14.
