Biba and all,
    I think you will find that 85 and 86 are the holding coil circuit.  One is
power and the other is ground and it makes no difference which way you wire
it.  It will work either way.
    It's not like hooking the battery up backwards which causes the horn to
suck, the radio to listen, the lights to cast shadow-----

I'm adding a starter relay to my client's '77 Spider. Unfortunately I
have two diagrams as to what goes where.
(a) -
30 to starter +
86 to ground
85 from ignition switch black
87 to starter solenoid
(b) -
30 to starter +
85 to ground
86 from ignition switch black
87 to starter solenoid
And your choice would be?
