Jak:
Has anyone had trouble with the Cam angle sensor error
code (1-2-5-5) ?
. . .
Could the sensor really care about temperature, or could
the camshaft itself have some slop until it is warm ?
On your car, which, if I remember correctly, has no distributor, the cam
angle sensor is a critical sensor. The engine control unit uses it to
determine when to open and close the injectors and when to fire the spark
plugs. So if it fails, the engine won't run. I don't know anything about
the sensor itself, but it could be affected by temperature. It could be
that it has an intermittent open or short inside of it, and
expansion/contraction with temperature fixes it. With luck, it could be
similar to an ABS sensor and could just be out of adjustment. But if not,
it sounds like you'll have to replace it.
