New engine mounts although wouldn't be a problem, since it is all cable
until it connects to the Webers. The cable is straightforward. No one
mentioned it, but the main return spring works well. No carpet mat.
I'm pretty sure it isn't the cable (though I should check the lower
part) since I have a very ingenious Shankle engine cable unit. It fits
directly below the carbs in the center and pulls down on them. Has a
simple return spring (the press in type) and a thin high' quality
(probably motorcycle) short cable. The rest is original Alfetta. If
someone saw it who has converted to Webers, it would be a, "Why didn't I
think of that," situation. There is very little that can go wrong with it.
I didn't think of the advance arms hanging up, though the springs were
at rest when I checked them. Jim Steck reconfigured the MarelliPlex
distributor so that I now have a full (believe) 35 degrees of advance.
The inside of the distributor was spotless, so don't think the arms
would gunk up.
I will add that it hasn't done it again, though I've only made an eight
mile run with it since it had an out of control idle.
Thanks much for the ideas. They're all good ones to, at the very least,
think about.
