I don't understand why you would talk the client into using expensive, higher quality rods, but reuse a consumable such as a headgasket. Risk Vs Cost?

Umm, guys, to quote myself, "...that has been removed from an engine that hasn't been run." The 750 engine with a 101 head has not been installed. After hearing more and more comments regarding rods breaking and considering this engine has 1500 cc's, I talked my client into the need for Carrello rods. They're now installed and it seems silly to me not to reuse the (virtually) brand new 1600 head (I believe) Reinz head gasket.

But I've been told not to.

Why?
