3M has a product called Fast Tack trim adhesive (or something like that). 
It's clear and flexible. IIRC, you coat both pieces, let them mostly dry and 
assemble. I've been using it for years for gluing on bicycle tires.

You could also try flattening them with a steam iron, that would be 
quicker. It's likely that if you overdo the flattening, they'll re-grow to fill 
the 
space, but try to get it just right.
