George, does the bearing squeal with the pedal depressed? If not, then the
bearing is probably still functional but the clutch diaphragm springs are
noisy against the bearing. I would just keep driving it to see if the noise
goes away. You I can't remember if the bearing is accessible without major
surgery, but you could try a small accurate squirt of WD40 on the
bearing/spring interface to see if that quietens things.

Subject: [alfa] Alfetta Throwout Bearing Noise
I just retrieved my Alfetta from winter storage, and a new-to-me problem
occurred immediately that didn't go away on the 5 mile drive home.
The throwout bearing is emitting a high pitched squeal which sounds
somewhat
like a slipping V-belt.
Has anyone else experienced this issue, and was there a cure short of
replacing the bearing?
I'm tempted to just keep driving it and see if the noise goes away on its
own.
