A major source for rattles in the rear of 116's is the three eared yoke's nut has loosened and the splines are rattling. When you accelerate, just a little bit, it goes away because the splines are now in tension (I believe that would be the correct term).

Right now my yoke is rattling and I put that stupid nut (is there a source for that size nut in a normal nut, as opposed to one made up of layers?) on with Locktite and my impact wrench on full steam ahead. The nut always loosens...at least on my Alfetta GT.

A pain to get to, but a cheap fix if that is your problem, Gary.
